Understanding Race: Past and Present and enjoy a private tour of the special exhibition
Seeing Race Before Race with a Newberry guide. We will then have some free time for you to visit other Newberry exhibits, the library, and the book store on your own before we go as group to a nearby restaurant for a pay-on-your-own luncheon.
Registration and Prepayment Required
This is a paid event; registration and payment required in advance. $10.00 per person; limited to 15 people. Open to CHPV Members, non-members & friends. A Waitlist is established in case of cancellations. CHPV Members must log in during registration to avoid non-member fee.

9:50 — Arrive; meet in the lobby
10:00 — Viewing of
Understanding Race: Past and Present (Second Floor Classroom; you may leave your coats in the room)
11:00 — Guided tour of
Seeing Race Before Race (First Floor Galleries)
12:00 — Time on your own to visit the galleries, reading rooms, and
bookshop
12:45 — Meet back in the lobby to depart for lunch
1:00 — Lunch at Doc B's Restaurant (Gold Coast), 100 East Walton Street. Order off the menu and pay own tab. Plan ahead and
view the menu online.
Arrival Instructions
Arrive on your own or arrange for transportation (see Getting There below). Meet in the Newberry Library lobby no later than 9:50.
