| CHPV Volunteer Brandon Jones acts in Silent Tears, a play By Calvin Holloway
July 18 & 19 at Bethel New Life Amberg Hall, 1150 N. Lamon Ave, Chicago
Join us on an emotional journey as the Johnson family faces life-altering challenges that will test their strength and resilience. This powerful production will provoke thought and reflection on your own decisions, perspectives, and life choices. You’ll leave with new insights and a deeper understanding. | Beat the Heat! CHPV Member Dottie Jeffries shares the following:
Be sure to drink plenty of hydrating fluids. And if you go out to do errands, carry water with you at all times. And keep drinking.
One of the physiological changes with age is Reduced Thirst Sensation. Older adults may not feel thirsty as readily as younger individuals, leading to decreased fluid intake.
Drinking enough water is one of the most important life saving actions you can take to help prevent heat-related illnesses and falls. Note that sugary, caffeinated, and alcoholic beverages are dehydrating. Particularly when drinking coffee, drink water as you drink coffee. ☕️ That’s 68 year old famous tennis 🎾 player Martina Navratilova recommends!
And speaking of famous, 78 year old President Bill Clinton took a bad fall last year due to severe dehydration, as his doctors determined.
Listen here to President Clinton talk about the importance of older persons to hydrate sufficiently.
So be Presidential, be like a President — and hydrated, hydrate, hydrate!
