More and more older South Siders rely on the services, support, and socialization of Chicago Hyde Park Village to age healthfully in community. Nearly half of CHPV’s revenue depends on individual gifts like yours. With your help, CHPV can grow its ability to support the needs of our aging population.
| IRA owners age 70½ or over can transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. Known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), these transfers offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year regardless of whether you itemizes your deductions. And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year. Normally, distributions from a traditional IRA are taxable when received. With a QCD, however, these distributions become tax-free as long as they're paid directly from the IRA to an eligible charitable organization. Learn more about QCDs from the IRS and contact your IRA trustee to make a QCD to Chicago Hyde Park Village.
| Please help CHPV close our 10th anniversary year strong by donating today. With your support, you’re making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
With my sincerest thanks,
Lucas Livingston, Executive Director

| | | CHPV member Astrid Fuller's 1977 public mural Pioneer Social Work restored and unveiled
Damaged more than a year ago by a fire, Astrid Fuller's 1977 mural Pioneer Social Work was recently restored by mural artist and restorationist Damon Lamar Reed and three assistants. The mural along the 57th Street viaduct depicts the early 20th century work of Jane Addams and the women of the Hull House teaching recent immigrants skills, fighting for the eight-hour workday and protecting children – hallmarks of the Progressive Era. The unveiling of the restored mural was held on November 19, 2024. Read more about Astrid, the mural, the restoration, and the legacy of Chicago public art in the Hyde Park Herald article 'Pioneer Social Work' restored. |
Join us for music and discussions led by our special guest, Dominika Zamara, renowned operatic vocalist, accompanied by Borna Bonakdarpour, pianist and cognitive neurologist. This program is designed as a musical and social engagement event, aiming to create a secure and enriching environment for individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease, related conditions, and their care partners. |
