10th Anniversary Dynamic Decade 2014-2024

Dear Friends,

At Chicago Hyde Park Village we believe an age-friendly community is simply a friendly community. Thanks to your generosity, CHPV continues to foster a caring, supportive environment for vibrant, healthy aging. Nearly half of our revenue comes from individual donors like you, ensuring that older adults in our community can live healthfully and happily.

As a volunteer-driven organization, we call CHPV a community of “neighbors helping neighbors.” In the last year, your contributions helped 87 volunteers provide 3,040 hours of service (a 12% increase from the year prior), including:
  • 208 rides to medical appointments and events
  • 760 visits to 23 socially isolated older adults
  • 12 monthly Memory Café events serving 177 attendees including people living with Alzheimer’s and care partners
  • 26 volunteers served Thanksgiving Day meals to over 70 older adults either delivered to their doors or at our communal gathering
We’re excited to announce a $25,000 CHALLENGE GRANT from the Elizabeth Louise Smith Fund, which will increase the impact of your donation through the end of the year. Your generous gift today will help us meet this challenge and expand our services, enriching the lives of older adults, families, and our entire community.

Please help CHPV close our 10th anniversary year strong by donating today. With your support, you’re making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.

How will you help us meet this challenge?

MORE WAYS TO GIVE

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution

IRA owners age 70½ or over can transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. Known as qualified charitable distributions (QCDs), these transfers offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year regardless of whether you itemizes your deductions. And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. Normally, distributions from a traditional IRA are taxable when received. With a QCD, however, these distributions become tax-free as long as they're paid directly from the IRA to an eligible charitable organization. Learn more from the IRS and contact your IRA trustee to make a QCD to Chicago Hyde Park Village.
