Featuring articles of interest, community spotlights, and stories about events, The Village Voice newsletter serves a different purpose from our weekly e-mail communication. It is an important way to help build community and stay informed. Please join us for this focus group session to share your input and help us shape what the newsletter should be in the time ahead.

Who is the City For?: Architecture, Equity and the Public Realm in Chicago
 
With Pulitzer Prize winning author Blair Kamin & acclaimed photographer Lee Bey
 
 
Author Blair Kamin, a past Pulitzer Prize winner for Criticism, and acclaimed photographer Lee Bey will discuss their new book – Who is the City For? Architecture, Equity and the Public Realm in Chicago. Together, they paint a revealing portrait of Chicago that reaches beyond its glamorous downtown and dramatic buildings by renowned architects like Jeanne Gang to its culturally diverse neighborhoods, including modest structures associated with storied figures from the city’s Black history, such as Emmett Till.

IN MEMORIAM

1972 – 2023
Chicago Hyde Park Village mourns the unexpected and untimely passing of Brian Seeley. Many members of the CHPV community know Brian well as our favored Tai Chi class instructor for many years.

Brian's wife, Michelle, shares the following tribute as we mourn his loss:

"I know all of you participated in making his dream of successfully teaching tai chi happen.  Truly, this was his calling and I want to thank you all so much for filling his life with meaning and delight."

There are no plans for a formal memorial service.
