A Dementia Friend learns about dementia and then turns that understanding into action. We all have a part to play in creating dementia friendly communities! Attend an engaging and interactive one-hour session led by Dementia Champion Kelly Stepto-Royston, a caregiver for her mother who is living with dementia. Learn about the types of dementia, what is normal aging vs Alzheimer's disease, and find out about a variety of resources.
Dementia Friend Training Session - Saturday August 27 10:00-11:00 a.m. Dementia Friendly Hyde Park is a part of a national movement called Dementia Friendly America which seeks to raise awareness about the impact of dementia on communities. Various stakeholders in Hyde Park are working collaboratively to ensure that our community is equipped with adequate information, training, and resources to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. We look forward to everyone getting involved, including community members, clinics, residential settings, businesses, local government agencies and faith communities.
Online Training You just have to watch a minimum of two videos, though feel free to watch more! It can take as little as 10 minutes and is one concrete way you can help our community to feel welcoming to people with dementia. Once you have completed the training, you can request a certificate by providing your email. Please make sure to send a copy of your certificate to dorothy.pytel@chpv.org so that we can keep track of all of the Dementia Friends in Hyde Park!
