What Climate Change Means to Chicago | Effects, Impact, Advocacy and Action
Chicago is encountering firsthand the effects and impact of climate change as we are experiencing record-high lake levels, warmer temperatures, and more frequent major storms. Climate change is here, now. Our best chance at ambitious action—is the window closing to protect our city and our way of life? We must act on climate change, as Governor Pritzker said, in a way that will match the gravity of this moment. We have to act now.
Our Speaker
Mijo Vodopic, MPP Senior Program Manager, MacArthur, Foundation Mijo Vodopic works on affordable housing and climate issues at the MacArthur Foundation, where he came from the US Government Accountability Office. Previously, he was director of property and asset management at Heartland Alliance Housing Incorporated, where he managed a portfolio of properties that offered on-site social services and worked to help revitalize severely distressed public housing communities. Earlier, he advocated on behalf of homeless families during a period of welfare reform while at the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness. Mijo received his Master’s Degree in Public Policy Studies from the UChicago and is a Marshall Memorial and Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow.
