Nguzo Saba Films with director Carol Munday Lawrence and Southside Projections
3-4:30pm
Produced between 1972 and 1981, these films illustrate the nguzo saba, or “seven principles of unity.” The principles are known to those familiar with Kwanzaa, but they’re about much more than just the holiday. Film director Carol Munday Lawrence explains that “each principle is one of the ingredients of a unified community, something vital to the cultural and economic survival of African Americans.” Lawrence will join this Family Saturday at 4pm to discuss the magic behind these rare and precious films.
