Join us at the Currency Exchange Café for a special First Monday Jazz event featuring Marvin Tate.

Marvin Tate is a multidisciplinary artist and a staple in the Chicago poetry/performance-art and indie music (Rock and Jazz) scene. 

In recent years Tate, has been the voice of silent screen actor Bert Williams in a collaboration with artist, Theaster Gates Jr and his Black Monks of Mississippi. He has collaborated with performance artist, Jefferson Pinder, and participated in the Chicago- documentary, “147 Pianos” with the filmmaker, Dolores Wilber.

Tate presently records and performs with Chicago sound artist, Joseph C. Mills. He has been commissioned by the Jazz Institute, to reinterpret the poem, “Ask Yo Mama” by the Poet, Langston Hughes, which makes its Chicago debut December 2017.
