You are all invited to Earth Day at Elm Park. This Saturday, April 22 there will be a general clean-up from 10 AM to Noon. Snacks provided. The Park is located just north of 53rd on Woodlawn. We welcome new members to the Elm Park Advisory Council. We have received a number of awards and grants from various groups, including being named one of the 10 Best Pocket Parks in Chicago. A few years ago, the park was in disrepair, with garbage, few plantings and was a regular hang out for drug users and dealers. Our neighbor, Timika Hoffman-Zoller appeared at our door with a handout looking for people to get involved and we jumped in and have enjoyed every minute of it (well, maybe not spreading the mulch). We have had some excellent story-tellers, a Doggie Day and a Brass Quintet along with other fun events. We meet the last Tuesday of each month at Nichols Field House at 6 pm. Let me know if you would like to get involved, it's not a great time commitment and we all feel that we have accomplished something for the community.
