Soundrotation in conjunction with Arts + Public Life and Brain Trust Management presents
the second installment of The Rear View Mirror Session and Lecture Series with Duane Powell.

The Rear View Mirror Sessions is a series of lectures and listening sessions which focus on influential unsung artists and legends and how they influence music today. The program will provide insight into artists who influenced Chicago and beyond by exploring their lives through history and their music.

For this second session, we will explore the contribution of Chicago-born legend, Donny Hathaway. Since his death in 1979, much of the focus on Hathaway has been on his mental illness and, for the most part, we only hear his voice singing at Christmas time. This Rear View Mirror Session will shed light on his triumphs, his contributions to the world of entertainment as a singer, composer, and much sought after session musician, as well as his influence on singers for generations to come.

This edition of The Rear View Mirror Sessions will include a performance of a medley from Hathaway's catalog by Chicago-artist, Coultrain, who will also speak on Hathaway's influence present-day.
