We will explore the work of Gwendolyn Brooks, 1950 Pulitzer Prize, 1968-2000 Poet Laureate of Illinois, and 1986 Poet Laureate of the United States. We will be joined in the discussion by Gwendolyn's daughter, Nora Brooks Blakely. Gwendolyn Brooks was a lifelong Southsider. Her family home was in Bronzeville. She lived from 1953-1994 in Greater Grand Crossing and from 1994 until her death in East Hyde Park. Gwendolyn Brooks literary works are widely available.<br /><br />The Hyde Park Book Club is jointly sponsored by the Hyde Park Historical Society and Chicago Hyde Park Village. All are welcome.
