David Holmquist
David Holmquist is midwest regional chair of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a group with more than 50,000 members nationally.   Last year David was among 5,000 CCL members who met in Washington and visited the office of every Congressperson and Senator.  In 2016, CCL volunteers sent more than 40,000 messages to legislators while holding 1,400 meetings with them or their representatives and publishing 3,000 letters and articles in newspapers.

The goal of CCL is to encourage legislators to work across the aisle to establish a "carbon fee & dividend" which would utilize market principles to fight climate change.  The idea is espoused by such leaders as climate scientist James Hanson, and former Sect. of State, George Schultz who are also on the CCL Board.

David lives in Hyde Park and travels a good deal among Midwestern states to help create and encourage CCL groups.  He was once a successful commodities trader but several years ago decided to commit his full time to fighting climate change which he considers the most serious threat that humanity faces.
